Our Distinctives
-
We believe that all the Scriptures both Old and New Testament are profitable for the Christian faith and life. Expository preaching then moves text-by-text through books of the Bible making the main point of the passage the main point of the sermon.
-
We believe that the Word of God reveals the good news of Jesus, and every aspect of our worship is influenced by the Gospel. We seek to do five things well: Read the Word, Pray the Word, Sing the Word, Preach the Word, and as occasion may allow See the Word in Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
-
The Gospel of Jesus creates a new community, the body of Christ. We aim to be bound together in unity and love. Amidst different backgrounds, ages, interest, and so on, we believe the Gospel is the unifying principle of the local Church. We seek to grow in the Gospel as we love one another and our community.
-
We believe the membership of the local Church consist only of those who have experienced the transforming power of the Gospel by faith and repentance, and have been baptized as a public confession of Jesus as Lord. Our mission is not to grow as fast as we can, but as healthy as we can. We simply wish to avoid giving false assurance to those who are not truly regenerate. We constantly proclaim and explain the gospel and take our time with people as they are seeking to understand what it means to follow Christ.
-
We believe that being a disciple of Jesus is more than what we know. We hold to the 3 H’s of Discipleship: Head - Heart - Hands. We aim to make disciples whose whole life is brought under the Gospel. The way we think, feel, and act. All of life is apart of being a follower of Jesus.
